RAAM wrap-up
Once again the race year has quickly come and gone. If you missed
out on how the race transpired or the records that were set,
you can find the 2010 Race Recap Part I & II provided by
RAAM HQ by clicking on the following links.
Sponsors and volunteers
We wish to thank all of those who volunteered at our time stations,
provided supplies, came by to watch, took pictures and videos,
and helped us cheer on the racers. Thank you! We hope to see
everyone again next year. A special thanks to our sponsors, especially
to our host McDonald"s in Oxford and Blanchester
who provided our time station sites, internet access and free
meal vouchers. Also to Kroger who provided bottled water
to both locations. If you would be interested in being more involved
with RAAM 2011 and our time stations, please contact one of us.
If your company would like to be a sponsor, we can work with
your company in whatever role they may want to play. Time Station pictures and videos
After a long and time-consuming process, we have narrowed down
hundreds of pictures to a select few and posted them to our website
as well as a few video clips taken.
Check
them out here.
We included pictures from as many crews, racers, and teams as
possible. The link will also lead to local news articles on the
race. $2 Million for charities
RAAM teams and solo riders have raised money for causes
ranging from firefighters in Great Britain to diseases that most
of us have never heard of. Not only do they raise money, but
they raise awareness and demonstrate that conditions we might
consider limiting does not limit the people who experience them.
Check Recap 2 (above) for just a few of these stories.
Website & Twitter stats
From mid-June to the end of the month, we are proud to say we
had over 4,400 visitors to our website from over 30 countries.
We also have over 800 followers on Twitter. Invite a racer home
If you live along the route between our time stations,
or near them, and would like to offer your home to a racer or
crew to take their sleep break and shower, please contact us.
For the 2010 race, we were able to provide housing to two racers
just blocks away from our Blanchester time station . We provided
a tent, sleeping bags, and pillows to a third team's crew that
slept outside their RV as their racer slept inside their RV.
For 2011, we have two homes, one in Lebanon on the course between
our two time stations and another just a few blocks from the
Blanchester time station. We also plan to have more tents at
our times stations for the crews. Time station staff can provide
crews with contact information.
You could develop a long friendship with one of these stars of
RAAM. Last newsletter for
2010
This will be our last monthly issue until January
2011. If you know of someone who would have an interest in receiving
it in the future, please sign them up through our website. Although
the newsletter will not be coming until next year, we will still
be tweeting on occasion as significant issues and events occur.

So be sure to check our website every so often during the off
season. 2011 RAAM
Mark your calendars! The 2011 race begins on June 14th for the
women and 60+ categories, June 15th for the solo men, and June
18th for the teams. We expect the race to pass our time stations
from June 21-25
So long until next year! |
