Paralyzed LA Police Officer to hand-crank RAAM
LA police officer, Kristina Ripatti was shot three times while chasing a robbery suspect. One bullet went beneath her protective vest and severed her spinal cord leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.
She now captains the RAAM 2010 four person Team Operation Progress. Operation Progress sums up its mission as, "Good cops helping good kids get out of really bad places." Web site.
Kristina will use a hand crank tricycle for her part of the race. Watch Kristina Train for RAAM 2010.

If you would like to see the Operation Progress team as it passes through Oxford, Blanchester and points between, you will find projected arrival times on our web site after the race begins. Keep in mind that RAAM teams ride 24 hours a day and Kristina might be in her sleep cycle while in our area.
In our special June 1st edition of the newsletter we will give detailed information on how to follow this race on the Internet. This data will allow you to make plans to see your favorites

Kroger, Oxford Visitor's Bureau and Kiwanis
We are thrilled to have the Oxford Visitors Bureau and Chamber of Commerce and the Oxford Kiwanis helping us advertise the race this year. Thank you! They will also be providing door prizes for the photo contest in Oxford. We could still use door prizes for Blanchester if an individual or business is willing to step forward and help out.
Kroger has generously offered to provide bottled water to both time stations for the racers, crews, and RAAM officials.
If you or your business would also like to donate supplies, please let us know. Cash donations are also accepted.
Time to get involved-become a RAAM Staffer
People have started to fill the time slots for the time stations. Some of the veterans have signed up for their favorite times. We now need you. Get involved in the excitement of the world's toughest bicycle race. If you haven't worked in a time station before and you are not sure what is expected of you, we recommend you check our volunteer information tab on the web site. Still not sure? Sign up with one of the veterans already scheduled. Working at a time station is not really work. It is fun. You get to meet crews, racers, officials and fans. Check the link on the volunteer page to know what to bring with you.
We always like to have at least two of persons at the station around the clock. More is better. Why not recruit some of your friends and neighbors and bring a group with you?
We also welcome you to just drop by any time to see the action.
Remember, this is not just for cyclists. Some of our most dedicated staff have not been on a bicycle in years.

Prizes now available for the Photo Contest
Good news! Through the efforts of the Oxford Visitor's Bureau, we now have two catagories of prizes for RAAM 2010 photos: the Oxford area and Blanchester area. We have gift certificates from Walmart, tree ornaments from local Oxford artist
Barker Ornaments and a ball cap from Miami University.
Find the details for the photo and video contest rules on the web site here.
