Competition for the 2010 race heating
up-2010 biggest RAAM ever
If you have not been following us on Twitter or our
website, the competition has been growing in the past month.
A record number of solo racers and teams have entered the 2010
race. 29 countries are now represented!
Three four-time RAAM solo veterans have entered. Rob Morlock
from Danbury, Connecticut, finished 8th twice.
Gerhard Gulewicz (Austria), four-time RAAM veteran, who
finished 2nd last year with one of the ten fastest times in the
twenty-eight year history of RAAM will be racing. Each year his
placing has improved. Is this his year? Out of the ten fastest
times in RAAM history, all racers have won at least one RAAM
except Gerhard.
We just learned that Jure Robic (Slovenia) will return.
He has raced RAAM seven times and won four times--a record.
For the first time ever, India has its first RAAM qualifier and
entry in the 2010 race, Samim Rizvi, who just qualified
in April 2010. Congratulations!
There are more teams for 2010. Although RAAM was started as a
solo race, teams were added to give the race more participation
and excitement The team section continues to grow. Many teams
race to raise money for various charities. See our February newsletter for a partial list.
We expect the time stations to be busier than ever in 2010.
Don't miss this rare chance to see what some have called the
toughest athletes in the world. Olympic Gold Medal Rowing Team in RAAM
Sir Steve Redgrave
(UK) and his rowing team who own Olympic Gold has left the water
and will be riding in RAAM 2010. They will raise funds for his
foundation benefiting disadvantaged children. Website You
