RAAM 2009 A Success Due to You
We would like to thank all sponsors, volunteers, and
the local media for their support of RAAM and the local time
stations. A special thanks to our McDonald's time station
hosts for the great locations, free food and web service. The
positive impact was huge with the workers, RAAM crews, officials,
and racers. Many expressed appreciation for your generosity.
It is such support by the local community, businesses, and media
that have made the time stations memorable and a success. You
are the reason RAAM runs through Oxford and Blanchester. It was
especially nice to see the students at Talawanda High School
out in force with posters cheering on the racers and in getting
behind the race as they did. Thanks everyone so very much!
We hope you will continue to show your support in 2010. The dates
for the 2010 race have already been set (see below). We will
post some updates on events through the remainder of the year
on the Twitter board on our website and will begin updating the
website in January 2010. We hope you will follow us again in
2010.
If you would like to get your group involved in helping out at
the time stations for 2010, please let us know. Also if you are
part of a high school, consider having the RAAM time stations
added as a community service event in your school. Finally, if
you or your group are interested in sponsoring or adopting a
racer for 2010, let us know. There are so many ways that you
can be a part of RAAM!
Photos and Videos from Blanchester and
Oxford
We have a number of photos and videos on our web site from Oxford
and Blanchester. See the action here.
If you were at one of the time stations, you might even see
yourself.
2010 Schedule
RAAM 2010 will begin on June 8 with the women's start
and June 9 for the men. Teams will start June 12. We do not expect
any route changes in SW Ohio, but we won't know that until later
this year. We should assume that the time stations in Oxford
and Blanchester will be open June 15 through 19 (Tuesday night
to Saturday morning.) We will update this in our first newsletter
of 2010 which we anticipate in January/February.
Put these dates on your calendar now.
Planning for 2010
The leadership team will meet in September to review RAAM 2009--what
went right and what could be better. If you have any suggestions,
please email one of the team members to the right.
Volunteers for 2010
We lost count of the number of volunteers, some of
whom came forward during the race itself. We know there were
well over fifty. This includes the gentleman who walked over
to the Oxford station while the crew was setting up and was recruited
to bring his lawn mower and cutting the tall grass at the site.
This is one of many such stories.
However, both stations have over 140 hours to cover and this
meant that some volunteers spent a long time filling the gaps.
We can always use more help. A number of persons signed up at
the stations to help next year. If you would like to join them,
contact one of the leaders listed to the right.
We can guarantee an experience like none other you've had. It
is the easiest job you've done and a lot of fun.
